Troy welcomes high vis jackets for children

The Road Safety Authority has joined forces with the ESB for its back to school campaign which will see every child starting school this September have given a high visibility vest as part of a new campaign to promote road safety.

Speaking to the Advertiser Cllr Robert Troy said “I have previously raised a similar suggestion to this on a number of occasions at Mullingar Area meetings when I asked the council to write to the appropriate department requesting them to make it compulsory for all pedestrians to wear high visibility vests while walking in the interest of road safety and will continue to lobby to make this happen.

“This is an important development as it is showing young children the importance of road safety. As children start national school it is so important that parents, guardians, and teachers make road safety a priority in their back to school preparations.”
