Mullingar Lions Club have announced a new charity walk with a difference for this September, namelywalking over the Joe Dolan Memorial Bridge.
Taking place on Sunday September 5 from 2pm to 5pm, it is a once off chance to walk the longest bridge in the Republic of Ireland for charity, withno worries of close encounters with traffic.
Westmeath County Council have kindly given Mullingar Lions Club permission to hold the charity walk to support the various Lions Club charities.
The fundraiser, known as the Joe Dolan Mile, involves walking across the bridge on one side and back on the other side, which, with a little bit added, constitutes a mile. The bridge will be closed to traffic during the crossing.
Mullingar Lions Club members will be in attendance and a collection will be made for Lions Club charities.
