Culture is coming - and it’s free

In an effort to showcase the breadth of culture available around Mullingar, the county council will host an extraordinary 50 cultural events for free on Friday, September 24.

Brainchild of the county’s arts officer, Catherine Kelly, this annual showcase will feature at venues from Belvedere to Tullynally Castle and will cover everything from history to bonsai.

Included across this exhaustive spectrum will be dance, storytelling, guided tours, art, photography, ballet, drums, and Shakespeare. Also, there will be every facet of music from country to choral, along with drama film and writing.

As well as the 33 events happening at 20 venues around Mullingar, there will also be a substantial programme in Castlepollard, and a collection of satellite events in Fore, Killare, and Delvin.

The full list of everything can be found on westmeathcoco.ie/culturenight or on the brochure in any of the county buildings around the county.

Further information can be got from Catherine Kelly’s office on (044 ) 9332140.

Ms Kelly hopes the people of Mullingar and north Westmeath will take as much advantage of this occasion as possible, not least because everything on the day will be free.
