Mullingar woman Dolores Keaveney launched her new children’s book “Jenny the Little Brown Hen” in Belvedere House last night.
Dolores is also the author of “If I were a Bee!”
On Thursday evening August 12 Belvedere House hosted the magical book launch of “Jenny the Little Brown Hen” written and illustrated by local artist and children’s author Dolores Keaveney.
“Jenny the Little Brown Hen” is on sale in Belvedere House and local book shops now priced at €9.99. In addition, there is a range of six posters to enhance your reading experience. These posters retail at €10.
The book is based on a true story. “I brought my grandchildren Ellie and Greg to see the little hen in my neighbours’garden one day. Greg, aged two at the time, sensing the little hen was lonely, wanted to know where the daddy was,” explains Dolores. From there evolves the heart-warming story of the arrival of Sylvester the Rooster and the six golden eggs that hatched into six beautiful chicks.
This colourful book has a magical feel that touches the child in all of us and recaptures the innocence we once had, while we share this beautiful experience with the children in our lives.
