Lights off drunk driver gets disqualification

A man who drove without lights while drunk has been banned from driving for three years.

Stephen Daly of Walshestown South was observed by Garda Regan at around 11pm on June 19 on Grove Street.

He failed the roadside breath test and returned a reading of 70mg alcohol/100ml breath at the Garda station.

Mr Louis Kiernan said the 26-year-old plumber regretted the incident.

Describing the level as “high”, Judge Timothy Lucey fined him €400 and disqualified him from driving for three years.
