Mullingar music venue The Stables has earned a special award in the Hot Press Readers category of the recent IMRO Live Music Venue of the Year awards.
The Mullingar venue polled exceptionally well, winning a readers’ award for Highly Commended Music Venue, along with Cyprus Avenue in Cork.
According to David McLynn, venue manager and principal booker at The Stables, the award could not have been achieved without the support of all who voted in the category.
“Thanks a million to everyone that voted for us in the IMRO/ Hot Press Venue of the Year Awards. We were awarded with a special commendation award in the Hot Press Readers category of the National Venue of the Year Awards. This was solely down to the amount of people who voted and for that we are eternally grateful. It's a great achievement when you're up against the likes of Vicar Sreet and Tripod. Congrats to all the venues that won awards,” he said this week.
The winners of the Live Music awards were announced in the RDS last Saturday, in front of a crowd of over 10,000 people. The overall award went to Dublin’s Vicar Street, while regional awards went to The Spirit Store, Dundalk; Cyprus Avenue, Cork; Róisín Dubh, Galway; and The Chasin’ Bull, Bundoran.
The awards were presented by Hot Press in association with 2fm. The Stables’ award is currently on display in the venue.
