Belvedere House and Gardens, Mullingar has organised a fun family day out for next Sunday July 11, to include a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party and a very special production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
The day begins at noon with a fairy garden demonstration by Belvedere gardener John Smyth, who will advise on the perfect plants to have in your garden to attract fairies.
A magic show with Bozo the Clown starts at the Jealous Wall at 1pm, follwoed by the arrival of the characters from Alice in Wonderland for the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party in Cherry Valley at 2pm
Then finish off your Sunday with a matinee production of William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Nights Dream by Chapterhouse Theatre group, on tour from England. This much loved tale of fairies and mortals entwined is perfect for young and old alike, and children and adults are invited to come in fairy fancy dress to participate with the cast in an interval parade.
Bring your own picnic and low-backed seating, and enjoy a day of fabulous entertainment in a memorable majestic setting.
Allow the mischievous Robin Goodfellow to spirit you away into the Athenian forest as Shakespeare’s verse weaves its magic over you with magnificent costumes, wonderful sets, and a musical score composed especially for Shakespeare’s beautiful language.
There is no extra charge for the garden party. Tickets for A Midsummer Night’s Dream are adults €18/ students and children €12/ families (two adults and two children ) €52. There is a 10 per cent discount for parties of 10 or more.
Ticket includes entrance to gardens and park. Grounds open for picnics from 2pm. Limited seating will be provided.
