The Aftermath take a break from recording their sophomore album with a couple of shows across Ireland in June and July. The band have been holed up in their own Transmission Rooms studio for a month with producers Ger McDonnell and Karl Odlum working on the follow up to debut Friendlier Up Here. The first single from these sessions, ‘Lost Possession’, will be released in early August.
The Aftermath play the Astral Planes Festival, Birr Castle on Saturday June 26; Sea Sessions in Bundoran, also on Saturday June 26; Crane Lane in Cork City for the Paul Weller after-show party on Sunday June 27; and Phantom First Friday in Dublin’s The Academy on Friday July 2.
Last, but not least, the guys return to their hometown on Friday July 30 for Mullingar’s One Night Stand at the Equestrian Centre, Mullingar.
A mod pop band based in the Midlands, The Aftermath have enjoyed considerable success with three top 20 singles and a top 20 album with debut Friendlier Up Here.
They have shared the stage with the likes of The Script, The Pigeon Detectives, Ian Brown, Keane, The Frames, and Razorlight to name a few and recently headlined Sweden’s Peace & Love festival as well as sold out shows from Dublin to Leeds to Berlin.
The Aftermath’s debut album Friendlier Up Here was voted into the Hot Press best 250 Irish albums of all time in December 2009, and Kaiser Chiefs’ drummer Nick Hodgeson named The Aftermath his favourite Irish band.
The Aftermath have spent the last two years building their own studio The Transmission Rooms in Drumlish, Co Longford. As well as recording themselves it has seen Noel Hogan (The Cranberries ), The Blizzards, and Shane McGowan through its doors.
