Third level grant seekers should apply now to beat the rush

Third level students who are looking for grants for the forthcoming academic year have been advised by Fianna Fail’s Cllr Aidan Davitt to send in their applications as soon as possible.

The closing date for the grant is August 31, but Cllr Davitt says that due to the increase in applications in recent years, backlogs may occur.

The Mullingar councillor expressed his concerns about the scheme this year as the number of applications is expected to reach 1,500 students - treble the number of applications in 2008. He advises students to submit the completed application as soon as possible as this will speed up the process.
