Westmeath County Council is hoping to organise an evening of entertainment, discovery, and adventure in Westmeath as part of National Culture Night 2010 which will take place on Friday September 24.
The council is calling on arts and cultural organisations to open their doors for free events, tours, talks, and performances for the people of Westmeath to enjoy as part of an overall county programme.
It is hoped that Culture Night will be a platform to showcase the county’s rich cultural offering and represent a powerful and positive image of the immense contribution culture can make to our society, making the arts accessible to everyone - enthusiasts and novices alike.
Westmeath County Council is now in the final stages of developing the programme. The deadline for the receipt of events for inclusion in Culture Night Brochure is Friday May 28 at 4pm.
It is hoped that people involved in the arts will come together and organise a variety of free activities for the people of Westmeath across artistic disciplines. Groups or organisations who are already running events such as a talk, lecture, exhibition, music performance, or concert around this time may be able to run it on this specific night.
The council is also seeking venues to offer their premises free of charge for a variety of cultural events as part of the overall county programme, and would like to thank everyone who has already taken part in the public meetings to date.
