A woman who broke a red light and then refused to give gardaí a breath sample has apologised for her actions.
Sarah Duke of 33 Connolly Avenue, Navan was observed driving at high speed from High Street to Dominick Street on December 27 last year and broke a red light in the process, Inspector Kieran Keyes told Mullingar District Court last week.
Her solicitor told the court that she knows she shouldn’t take drink and that she should have co-operated with gardaí.
“A combination of drink and medication may have caused her actions,” the solicitor said, adding that the mandatory four year driving ban would cause her serious hardship.
Judge David Anderson postponed the ban until July 1 to allow her complete her journalism exams and fined her €250.
