Athlone Towncentre welcomes new tenants

Athlone Towncentre has expanded its retail offering with the addition of two new tenants to the centre this week.

The new tenants, James McBride Family Butchers and An Post, both of which are relocating from the old Texas shopping centre, represent a broadening of the local representation in the centre.

The Post Office is now located on the Civic Square beside Elverys and will add a new financial dimension to the centre. James McBride butchers is located beside the Mardyke Street entrance, offering a top range of meat and poultry products.

According to Emma Leonard of Bannon, management agent for the centre, the decision to welcome these new tenants was a response to customer demand for more choice.

“Athlone Towncentre delivers the top names in fashion to our customers, evidenced by people travelling from as far away as Galway. These customers have expressed a desire for more choice – specifically we had requests for children’s gift and toys and gift and homewares. Over the past few months we have worked with our letting team in delivering these products and services to our customers,” said Ms Leonard.

“We also had a lot of feedback that the centre would benefit from strong local representation and we feel we have delivered this by bringing the Post Office to the scheme. Athlone Towncentre now combines high street shopping with the services available in both the Post Office and the local authorities public office. You can now tax your car, buy a TV licence, pick up children’s allowance, dare I say apply for a passport, all at Athlone Towncentre. And if you have any time left you can even sneak in some shopping. Top it all off by buying that special dinner with M&S food and James McBride Butchers.”

The new tenants join an impressive line-up of top retail brands including M&S, Zara, H&M, Easons, and Elverys, who continue to offer big brand value to the customer.

An Post and James McBride Butchers are just two of the recent additions to offer the customer more than big brand value fashion. Since Christmas, the national retailer Art & Hobby is offering a range of arts products and children’s toys. The centre now boasts an impressive line-up to cater for children, with books and gifts sold in Easons, Game, and M&S and a strong clothing selection focusing on value and occasion wear through Next, H&M, Zara, Monsoon, Clarks, and Tommy Hilfiger.

The Collection gifts and interior store and Irish Soap & Candle Co offer a good selection of top quality wedding, birthday, and anniversary gifts at a range of prices. Both stores sell everything from candles and furniture to Louise Kennedy crystal, and complement the homeware ranges in Next and M&S.
