Shortlist announced for Mullingar Chamber awards

The shortlist of companies and individuals that will be battling it out for the Mullingar Chamber Awards, sponsored by CK Financials and to take place on April 15, has been announced.

The commended finalists in the four categories to be awarded on the night are as follows:

The Mullingar Chamber business person of the year will be contested by Berty Dunne of the Annebrook House Hotel, Bernadette Fagan of Temple Country Spa and Retreat, and Declan Devine of Pharmed Holdings.

Finalists for the Chamber Industry Award are Mullingar Greyhound Stadium, Kilbeggan Races, and Chris Lynch Waste Management.

Shortlisted nominees for the Special Recognition Awards are Sr Finbarr of the Westmeath Women’s Community Project, Sean Lynch of Mullingar Arts Centre, and Hubee Magee from Mullingar Town Band.

The shortlisted nominees for the new Best Customer Service Award are Catherine Craig who works for the Annebrook House Hotel, Geraldine Lacey from Buckley’s Supervalu, and Niall Murray of Apache Pizza.

Due to the recent cabinet reshuffle, Minister Batt O’Keeffe has taken over the portfolio of the newly named Department of Enterprise Trade and Innovation. As a result, Minister O’Keeffe will now be speaking at the Mullingar Chamber Awards to be held in the Mullingar Park Hotel on April 15.

Commenting on the shortlisted nominees for the chamber awards, president of Mullingar Chamber Paul O’Brennan said “The shortlisted nominees for this year’s awards are a testament to the vast array of businesses and industry that have set up in Mullingar. These companies have created employment and have demonstrated the suitability of Mullingar as an ideal location for setting up a business no matter what sector or customer base you have.”

This year’s new Best Customer Service Award has also proved to be an excellent addition. Martha Clancy, business development manager at Mullingar Chamber who came up with the idea of the award, said “I am delighted with the feedback that this new award has received from the general public and local businesses. I can only hope that next year it will grow in stature and that it will become a very sought after award.”
