Hogan commends Sarsfield Square clean up

Sinn Fein councillor Paul Hogan has commended the residents of Sarsfield Square after a massive clean-up of the estate over the weekend. He has said that he is “delighted to play an initial role in securing skips for the clean-up”.

“I wish to praise all residents for taking part in the clean-up of Sarsfield Square last Saturday March 27. Although I wasn’t present on the day due to personal commitments, I am aware of the level of work, which was undertaken on the day by the residents.

“I am delighted that I was involved in the initial organisation of this clean-up. I met Edel Martin, Environmental Officer, Athlone Town Council, and made numerous other representations. I was successful in securing the provision of four skips to clean the back lanes.

Cllr Hogan met with the chairperson of the Residents Association a number of months ago to inform him that he had secured skips for a clean-up.

“I am aware that all three lanes received a thorough cleaning. I wish to also thank Lorraine Derwin, Litter Warden, who was present on the day. I also wish to strongly commend the Residents Association and all of the residents who carried out the clean up,” concluded Cllr Hogan.
