The prize-giving ceremony for this year’s St Patrick’s Day festivities takes place this evening, Friday March 26, at 8pm in the Greville Arms Hotel, with sponsors and parade participants welcome to attend.
A wonderful day was had by all on St Patrick’s Day, and the organising committee would like to thank everyone who participated in the festival - bands, music acts, entertainers, dancers, float entrants, and walking groups who made this year’s festival a spectacular event.
They would also like to thank the Gardaí and the civil defence for their assistance, and to all who attended this year’s festival and contributed to a fantastic day.
Thanks were also expressed to the volunteers, including supervisors, stewards, face painters, etc, without whose hard work and help the event would not have run so smoothly. Each year many volunteers are needed and it is a great way to get involved in your local community with a ringside seat of the events on the day. Anyone who wishes to volunteer next year is asked to contact any of the committee members.
A special thank you was also paid to all the sponsors of the festival, to those who kindly donated funds or gave benefit in kind.
The day’s proceedings were filmed by Ollie Gallagher, who is currently preparing a DVD of the event. If you would like a copy of the DVD please contact Ollie at (087 ) 2054688. If you or your children attended or participated in the parade, a DVD is a great way to remember the fun you all had on the day.
Kelly Photography also took many photos, which will be loaded to the website over the coming days so check out www.mullingarparade.ie Thanks to Catherine & Colm for all their hard work and wonderful photos.
If you wish to contribute towards the parade and haven’t yet had the chance to do so, there is still time. Please send your donation to Mullingar St Patrick’s Day Parade, c/o Greville Arms Hotel, Mullingar or to the Ulster Bank account, details of which can be found on www.mullingarparade.ie under ‘Supporters - Donate Now’. All funds received are greatly appreciated.
