Time to clean up your community!

The National Spring Clean campaign, Ireland’s largest anti-litter initiative, starts next week on April 1, and runs throughout the month of April. There is still time to register your event and receive free clean-up kits, and An Taisce is urging the people of Westmeath to sign up and make a difference this spring.

The National Spring Clean initiative relies on volunteers organising clean-ups in their local communities. Groups can register on www.nationalspringclean.org

National Spring Clean has also launched the first ever Community Pride photographic competition as part of the 2010 campaign. People from all over Ireland are being encouraged to take part and to submit local photographs representing community pride and demonstrating the spirit of ‘Working together for our community’.

There is also an aluminium can recycling competition sponsored by Alupro Ireland for primary and secondary schools. Further information on both competitions can be found on www.nationalspringclean.org
