A painting entitled ‘Fruits of the Season’ by Clare Lynch, age 16, a pupil at Loreto College Mullingar, and another entitled ‘Flowers’ by Caoimhe Smyth, age 10, from Gainstown Mullingar, caught the eye of Mullingar-born competition adjudicator, artist, and lecturer in the visual arts, Eoin Butler, during the judging of entries for this year’s 56th Texaco Children’s Art Competition.
Just under 30,000 entries were received for the competition, some 731 of which came from Co Westmeath. Winners will be announced in early April followed by the prize-giving ceremony which takes place in May.
