Gardai in Mullingar are seeking information in relation to a Saab car which was used as a getaway vehicle during a raid on Rathowen post office this week.
Raiders armed with an axe escaped with a small amount of cash after they entered the busy post office in Rathowen, outside Mullingar, at approximately 4pm on Monday.
One of the two men, who was carrying an axe, smashed the post office counter window and threatened staff, while a second man waited outside in the car.
The getaway car - a green 96 Dublin-registered Saab - sped off in the direction of Mullingar and turned left at Bunbrosna. It was later found burnt out at Slanemore, Mullingar.
A Garda helicopter, regional response units, and gardai from Mullingar attended the scene.
Anyone who has any information on the incident, or on the car used in the getaway, is asked to contact Mullingar Gardai at (044 ) 9384000.
