Tánaiste to be guest speaker at Mullingar Chamber Awards 2010

Mullingar Chamber of Commerce have announced Tánaiste Mary Coughlan as guest speaker for this year’s Mullingar Chamber business dinner and awards which will take place on Thursday April 15 in the Mullingar Park Hotel. As the premiere business event in the Midlands the Mullingar Chamber Awards highlight the business owners, organisations, and individuals who have developed successful business and industry in Mullingar and also those that have given back to the local community.

Commenting on the announcement Mullingar Chamber president Paul O’Brennan said, “The Mullingar Chamber Awards have played host to many well known guest speakers in the past and we are very proud to have had individuals such as Patricia Callan and Dr Gareth Fitzgerald at our previous awards. To have the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment and Tánaiste coming to the Mullingar Chamber Awards is indeed an honour and we are very much looking forward to presenting awards to some of the best local business owners and companies on the night.”

Local award winning author JP Donleavy has also been announced as a guest of honour on the night. Mr Donleavy was born in the US to Irish parents and gained critical acclaim with his first novel, The Ginger Bread Man. In total he has written 11 novels and several screenplays and lives in an estate at Levington Cross outside Mullingar.

Mullingar Chamber members and the general public will be asked to nominate businesses and individuals for the awards in the coming weeks and the shortlisted nominees will be announced towards the end of March.
