A man charged with possession of cannabis for sale or supply has denied the offence.
Marek Rose of 9 Derravara, Mullingar was before Mullingar District Court in connection with possession of herbal cannabis worth more than €14,000 at his address on February 24 last.
When he was arrested and charged by Detective Garda Patrick Thornton he replied “I didn’t sell any of it. I did try it with others,” and “As I told you, someone left it there. I did not know it was cannabis”.
The find was made as part of what the detective called an “ongoing investigation” which led to his house being searched under warrant.
Judge William Early granted the part-time supermarket worker legal aid, due to the seriousness of the charge.
The case was put back to February 25 for DPP directions.
