February, it's all about one day really, when you think about it. The anticipation, the nervousness, the love. You spend days, maybe even weeks planning every minute detail, hoping that your loved one feels the same way you do, and then before you know it, you awaken on that day and glance at the calender, it's here, it's finally Pancake Tuesday again. Well this year, February has another day to celebrate as SuperKidd Promotions hosts Icon on Fire as they release their debut single.
Mullingar's own Icon on Fire take centre stage with the release of their debut single ‘My Name is Casanova’. After a line-up change they have emerged from Mick Cronin's (The Aftermath ) brand new recording studio in Drumlish with a new focus and desire to spread their brand of pop-punk to the masses. Catch them as they kick off their tour with SuperKidd Promotions on February 13 in The Stables. After his show stealing performance at SuperKidd Promotions New Bands Showcase last July, Dundalk rapper Tre returns to Mullingar once again intent on proving why he is reknowned as a modern day mix of Kanye West and the man upstairs whom we can't name in case it infringes on this new Blasphemy Law bunkum. All that needs to be said however is that Tre's positive meesage is only eclipsed by his way with words and thought provoking lyrics.
Kildare's The Dropout Syndrome are no strangers to SuperKidd Promotions gigs having previously played as special guests in December 2008. That day they went down a storm and their return has been long overdue. Citing Nirvana, Green Day, and the Foo Fighters as influences, they kick off 2010 with the release of their debut album Sweet Victory. Winners of Longford's Got Talent, Inside Story make their Mullingar debut with SuperKidd Promotions on February 13. Fronted by Athlone's Pat McEvilly, this indie three-piece beat off strong competition to secure the Longford's Got Talent crown and in 2010 they are intent on conquering the rest of Ireland. Formed in July 2006 Limerick's Ocean Over Head have gone from strength to strength which saw them take first prize in the song writing category in the Garageland band competition. Since then the talented three piece have been into the studio to record with Owen Lewis who previously worked with Flogging Molly, REM, and Snow Patrol to name but a few. The product of that endeavour was their debut EP The City Belongs to Me Again which was released in the spring of 2009.
