Boreen Brannock at Kinnegad is causing serious trouble to Gardaí “who have to go there on a regular basis,” said Judge John Neilan.
At last week’s two scheduled court sittings, the judge pointed out how the address “comes up regularly” in court because Gardaí have to go there regularly because there are “groups of young people drinking, partying, and presenting problems to locals”.
He said he was concerned about the behaviour when he dealt with the case of 20-year-old Kevin Reilly, a science student at DIT who was one of a number of people asked to leave the area on June 9 last year at around 8.30pm.
Most of them, including Mr Reilly, 54 Manorfield, Kinnegad, were intoxicated.
Ms Patricia Cronin said her client was motivated to get on with his life and was very sorry for his behaviour.
The judge put the case back to June, warning Mr Doyle that “if you’re observed with any of your so-called-friends yahooing” he would be fined €500 for public drunkenness.
A charge of failing to comply with the direction of Gardaí was withdrawn.
The following day a juvenile charged with his involvement in an alleged theft was ordered to stay away from Boreen Brannock “where young persons associate with cans”.
