Showband ledgend Paddy Cole The Showband Show to top them all

Starring some of the people who were there from the beginning of this magical era, The Showband Show comes to the Dean Crowe, Athlone on Thursday January 28.

The line up inclides such greats as Paddy Cole, Sean Dunphy, Tommy and Jimmy Swarbrigg, Sean O’Dowd, Lorraine McDonald, and Art Supple.

Paddy Cole is a founding member of The Capitol Showband. They dominated the showband scene right through the 60s with their big brassy sound and Paddy's virtuoso sax and clarinet playing! A big star in his own right now. Rarely off our TV screens!

The velvet voiced crooner, Sean Dunphy, was a huge hit when he went to the Eurovision Song Contest with ‘If I Could Choose’ and he’s still performing as good as ever today.

Tommy and Jimmy Swarbrigg had over 20 hit records throughout their career including ‘Looking Through The Eyes Of A Beautiful Girl’, ‘If Ma Could See Me Now’, ‘It's Nice To Be In Love Again’, and ‘That's What Friends Are For’. The very first showband stars to write and record all of their own material.

Sean O’Dowd will be performing with his band Ding a Ling undoubtedly the biggest drawing band in Ireland throughout the 70s. ‘You Are No Angel’ was just one of his many hit records!

The Conquerors Showband are one of the greatest showbands of them all and still packing them in everywhere they go. The Galway boys sing Baby Blue and many more.

Lorraine is one of the brightest talents to emerge from the later days of the showband days. A terrific vocalist and a multi-instrumentalist, she brings glamour and glitz to this great show.

Art Supple is the lead singer with The Victors Showband. His great big voice covered everything from Tom Jones to Englebert Humperdinck. He had a huge hit with ‘Showbands On Parade’ where he paid tribute to all the showband greats.

The night will include a grand finale when all the cast join in a medly of songs from the exciting showband years!
