Mummers Festival rescheduled

The organising committee of the renowned New Inn Mummers Festival has confirmed that the annual event, which had to be postponed because of the bad weather, has been rescheduled and will now be staged in the New Inn Leisure Centre, New Inn, Ballinasloe, on Saturday night January 23.

The postponement has forced the committee to reduce the festival to a one night event this year, which will mean that the senior and junior competitions will both be staged on Saturday night.

It is planned to commence the festival at 7pm because of the enlarged programme, according to festival chairman Michael Mullins, who confirmed that patrons will be treated to a feast of outstanding music, song, dance and storytelling.

“We are disappointed at having to condense the festival into one night, but we are delighted that our 32nd annual festival will go ahead, because we know that our loyal supporters are really looking forward to the event. They will not be disappointed, as many of their favourite groups are performing again this year, as well as an exciting new group from the Fohenagh area,” said Mr Mullins.
