Case dismissed as mother pleased with son’s progress

A Mullingar man has had public order charges against him dismissed under the Probation Act.

David Fenton of 36 Lynn Heights had pleaded guilty to drunkenness and threatening behaviour at Dominick Place on October 18 2008 and to a breach of the peace at his home address on July 27 in the same year.

Judge Neilan requested that his mother be called into court as the breach of peace occurred at her house. She said she was “very happy” with her son’s progress.

When asked if she wanted the case concluded on the day or “would you like it hanging over him for another year?” she replied “No. I would not”.

Mr Louis Kiernan said there had been “serious difficulty” at the family home with one of Mr Fenton’s siblings.
