Loved and enjoyed by audiences throughout Ireland, the hugely successful Ireland’s showbands - “Do you come here often?” returns to Mullingar for another season of concerts this festive season and can be seen in the Mullingar Park Hotel on Sunday, January 3.

Presented by showband veteran, George Jones, tickets are available on (044 ) 9337500 or from Heartbeat City, Mullingar.

This year’s line-up includes Roly Daniels from The Nevada, Brian Coll from The Plattermen, Gregory Donaghy from The Cadets, Frank McCaffrey from The Country Folk, Derek Dean from The Freshmen and Louise Morrissey from The Morrisseys.

The special guest stars this year include Les McKeown from The Bay City Rollers, and one of the original sixties supergroups The Searchers.

All of the performers are accompanied by the fabulous musicians and vocalists of The Galaxy Showband.

During their heyday in the middle of the 20th century, over 600 showbands toured the country playing to capacity audiences in every available ballroom of romance.

Today, most of the clubs, ballrooms and dancehalls associated with the showbands period have long since disappeared.

However, Ireland’s showbands brings the very best performers of the era together to relive the unique sounds in an evening packed with pure nostalgia.

“The show not only celebrates the many sounds of showbands but is also a tribute to the entertainment industry on this island,” said promoter Tony Brown.

“The talents of all the performers gel wonderfully together, guaranteeing everyone a fantastic night of classic sounds and real nostalgia not to be missed.”
