Assault charges struck out as victim is nowhere to be found

Assault charges against a Lithuanian man have been struck out because the victim of the assault is nowhere to be found.

Linas Staugalitas, who is in his 30s, suffered serious head injuries following a party at College Vale in Mullingar in the early hours of May 22, and was rushed to hospital in a critical condition.

Vaidas Dambrauskas of 23 Irnwood Square, Enfield was arrested and charged with assault causing harm at a special sitting of Mullingar District Court the next day.

The charge against the 26-year-old was struck out at the recent sitting of Mullingar District Court when Inspector Jarlath Folan told the court that the injured man had disappeared out of hospital and has not been located since.
