Sean Cronin first Buccaneer to play for Ireland

While the weather ruled out all club matches last weekend, it was nevertheless a historic weekend for both the Buccaneers club and Sean Cronin, when the upcoming hooker made his debut at Senior level for Ireland in the comprehensive victory over Fiji at the storm-lashed RDS, Dublin, last Saturday evening.

The 23-year-old Connacht rising star may have only seen action for the last ten minutes or thereabouts but, in doing so, he became the first Buccaneers player to be capped at Senior grade for Ireland. The ex-Shannon and Munster Academy player will surely make many more appearances in the green jersey and all at Buccaneers RFC congratulate Pooch on his first senior cap. With a bit of luck, he may be in the squad for next Saturday’s tilt with the world champions South Africa who are likely to feature ex-Buccaneer lock Andries Bekker for the big game in Croke Park!
