Coole playground facility officially opened

The elected representatives, management, and staff of Westmeath County Council are delighted to announce the official opening of the latest community-led playground project at Coole, Co Westmeath, which was provided by the community in Coole with the assistance of Westmeath County Council under the Playground Provision Scheme 2007 - 2010.

The official opening was performed last Sunday November 15 by Cathaoirleach of Westmeath County Council, Cllr Fintan Cooney.

Through the Playground Provision Scheme, Westmeath County Council has sought to ensure an equitable distribution of playground facilities throughout the county, either by direct council provision or by looking at how communities like Coole could themselves progress the provision of playground facilities in their own areas, with the assistance of the council.

Coole is now the fourth community-led playground facility that has been provided in the county and like Multyfarnham, Rathowen, and Streete before it, this playground project highlights once again the importance of community involvement and what can be achieved through working together for the benefit of a locality.

Westmeath County Council wishes the children of Coole and their families and friends many years of enjoyment in the safe and pleasant surroundings of their new playground facility. The council also urges continued community co-operation to ensure that the playground will remain the perfect environment for children in the coming years.
