Described as ‘the hottest Irish acoustic group on the planet’, Lúnasa will perform their final show of the year ahead of going into studio to record tracks for their new album.
The Palace Loft, Athlone will host the band this Sunday November 8, and the band are excited to finally be performing in Athlone.
“We have many supporters from Westmeath who travel long distances to see the band in other counties, and indeed countries, so it is great to finally do a local gig,” says fiddle player Sean Smyth.
With eight recordings to their credit over an almost 14 year reign as one of the finest traditional Irish instrumental bands, Lúnasa are showing no signs of slowing down.
2010 will include a return to Glasgow's famous Celtic Connections festival in January, performing alongside Natalie Merchant with whom the band recorded as special guests on her forthcoming album. Tours of the UK, US, and Europe are also confirmed.
Doors open at 8.30pm for Lúnasa’s gig in The Palace Loft, Athlone this Sunday November 8. Local group Re seisiun will provide support.
