A Polish man accused of possession of around €26,000 cannabis has been sent forward for trial to Mullingar Circuit Court.
Garda Deirdre Ann Delaney executed an arrest warrant before the court on Thursday in the name of Tomasz Drozd, 10 The Moorings, Market Point, Mullingar.
Mr Drozd, who has been in the country for three years is accused of having 2.2kg cannabis at his home for sale or supply. Gardaí described the amount as “substantial”.
He was ordered to surrender his passport.
Legal aid, including one junior and one senior counsel, was granted due to the seriousness of the offence which carries a ten year sentence on conviction.
He will appear before the Circuit Court on December 1.
