Artsarama has been running drama and art classes, summer camps, and day trips since 2002 under the title of 'Summer Fun Programme'. Originally for children and young people with special needs, it has opened its creative gates to all children and young people based in and around Westmeath.
Running from St Brigid's School in Mullingar (in between Loreto and Presentation School ), children and young people aged between 5 and 18 years can take part in drama, movement, art, play, and song sessions. The annual programme runs classes from September - October, November - December, January - March, April - June, and July - August (Summer Fun Programme ).
Various tutors and professionals will be involved throughout the year including, among others, Sarah Nally (drama, movement ), Isolda Keaney (art ), Ken Fitzpatrick (sport ), and Lesley Oust (cookery ). Artsarama is curently looking for anyone with skills and teaching experience in photography, stage management, set design, film, and creative writing to run sessions also.
Artsarama is delighted to be offering classes in the following: Mondays - Artsarama workshops in dance, drama and art; Tuesdays - National Youth Theatre (teenagers only ); Wednesdays - Kidz Club focusing on sport, cookery, art, games, etc; Thursdays - Busy B's for students with special needs and their siblings, a similar progamme to Kidz Club; Thursdays - Musical Mania: act, sing and dance the musicals; and Fridays - themed project ‘Christmas Crackers’.
