In preparation for World Animal Week, from October 4 to 11 hundreds of proud owners entered their dogs and cats into the Pedigree and Whiskas Search for Ireland’s Best Loved Dog and Cat. An expert judging panel met to paw through all the entries and nine finalists have been chosen.
Mullingar’s own Chippy has been with her owner, Glyza, for two years and is already irreplaceable. At night Glyza and Chippy go to bed together, she is always by her side. She even has her own fleecy blanket.
Chippy is a finalist in the Best Loved Cat category and is up against seven other cats to win the title. Mullingar can play their part and help Chippy win this honour by logging onto www.rte.ie/worldanimanimalweek to cast their vote.
Participants in the competition were asked to submit a photograph of their furry friends to the World Animal Week website and include a short paragraph describing why their pet should be crowned Ireland’s Best Loved Dog or Cat.
