Three in court over pharmacy ram-raid

Three men are to appear at Mullingar District Court this morning (Friday ) following an attempted raid at a Mullingar pharmacy early yesterday morning.

At approximately 2.15am yesterday (Thursday ) morning, four masked men rammed a car into the front of the premises on Oliver Plunkett Street, Mullingar and entered the premises.

Responding to a report that a car had been rammed into the building, a Garda night unit attached to Mullingar Garda Station arrived promptly to discover the four men attempting to flee the scene.

Gardai pursued the men on foot, and two men, aged 19 and 21, were arrested close to the scene. A third man, aged 25, was arrested later yesterday morning. All three were detained at Mullingar Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

The scene was preserved for a technical examination to take place yesterday, while the car used in the incident, a black Ford Mondeo, was removed for forensic examination.

A Garda search is continuing for the missing man who managed to make his getaway.
