Athlone Town FC has announced the appointment of Attitude Dance Company as the official cheerleaders for the football club.
Attitude will be performing at all the home matches for the team.
Speaking on behalf of Athlone Town FC, media officer, Chris Enright said, "We are delighted to welcome Attitude into the Athlone Town family and see this as a very important step in further developing the club as part of the community. They will bring colour and entertainment to all the matches and we hope people will attend games to see what can be achieved through effort. I would like to wish Aishling the best of luck for the coming year with Attitude as they do the town itself proud on a national and international stage."
Attitude dance company have been in operation in Athlone since 2006, and in that space of time have put on four major productions. Aishling Withers, principal teacher for Attitude Dance Company say she is proud and honoured for her school to be chosen to cheer for the team as she is a big Athlone Town supporter herself. “Our cheerleaders have been in training for the last three years and we are really beginning to make headway now as although cheerleading is relatively new in Ireland, it’s really beginning to catch on.
“We have recently been accepted as part of the Brittish Cheerleading Association, so with a little more hard work we should be ready to enter into competition soon, which would be a fantastic experience for the squad as they would be competing with teams from all over the world.”
