If you want to counteract the recession and are looking for a good bargain, then the Baylin Development Committee invites you to come along to Caulry GAA pitch on Sunday September 6 at 2pm for a major car boot sale.
You can be assured of finding something to suit your needs at rock bottom prices. The proceeds will go towards the continued development and enhancement of Baylin village and surrounding areas.
Over the last number of years, Baylin has been transformed into a beautiful vibrant village thanks to the dedicated work of a very energetic committee working in partnership with Westmeath County Council.
Approaching Baylin from Athlone, the Baylin Cross is on the left, towering over the village and surrounding countryside. Driving through the village, there are manicured lawns, beautiful flower tubs, and a variety of growing trees to enjoy. The central feature is a bog oak sculpture called ‘Fire of Life’, representing the surrounding boglands, and engraved on its base are full details of historic places of interest in the area.
Baylin National School is the central building in the village, and full marks are given to the principal, staff, and students on receiving the Green Flag award just before the summer break.
The committee would like to continue the work they have undertaken in the village and provide additional features for the enjoyment of locals, passers-by, and visitors. Your support can help, so please come along to the car boot sale. Admission is free, and includes a family fun day with various novelty sporting activities for all ages (weather permitting ). There will also be musical entertainment and a cake sale.
In addition, thanks to generous sponsorship from Gerry Doyle of Athlone PVC, there will be a major prize on offer of an aeroplane ride over south Westmeath.
