Prison for sleeping in disused B&B

A man who was found asleep in a disused B&B has been given a four month prison sentence.

Adam Cleary was one of a number of youths located there when Garda Casserly entered Groome’s B&B on the Mullingar Road, Kinnegad.

Mr Louis Kiernan said his client had been in Enfield earlier and at around 3am or 4am on the rainy night they chose to stay at the B&B.

He said Mr Cleary was asleep on the floor when Gardaí arrived and a fire had been lit.

“They got their bed, but didn’t get their breakfast,” commented the judge.

Mr Cleary, who lives with his mother, has 14 previous convictions and is “anxious to move on” with his life, Mr Kiernan told the court.
