Three generations on trial

Defendants who have been charged in relation to the Dalton Park riot range in age from their teens to their seventies.

Two teenage girls have been charged with violent disorder, possession of an article with intent to cause injury and criminal damage.

Because they are juveniles, details which might lead to their identification cannot be released for legal reasons.

While many of the defendants are in their twenties and thirties, one man who is not charged with violent disorder is in his 70s.

Patrick McDonagh of 137 Dalton Park is charged with threatening behaviour and failure to comply with the direction of Gardaí arising out of the riot.

Mr McDonagh, who will be 71 tomorrow (Saturday ) was not sent forward to the Circuit Court for these relatively lesser offences which will come before the court again on September 11.

There were a number of fathers before the court with their children of varying ages.

The only woman charged, Tina Giff of 263 Dalton Park is expecting a baby. When originally before the court she was advised that her bail conditions were not in place to prevent her seeking any medical or other assistance she required in relation to the pregnancy.
