Danny Byrnes is to become a Mecca for music lovers this Saturday, July 18, when Record Fairs Ireland hosts its second major fair of the year in Mullingar. The group was originally established in the Westmeath town, and since the first fair of the year there in April they have been touring the country, hosting record fairs in most of Ireland’s major towns and cities.
Due to the group’s expansion in recent months they are moving to a bigger Mullingar venue, and Danny’s, a venue which has always had a great musical reputation, will open its doors from 10.30am to 5.30pm.
Saturday’s fair will feature a head-spinning range of vinyl records spanning almost every era and every musical genre - from blues to metal, rap to alternative, punk to funk, rock to country, pop to folk, and Irish to indie. There’s literally something for everyone - from Abba to Zappa all under one roof. If vinyl is the not the food of love for those thinking of attending, then a selection of hard-to-find CDs and DVDs will also be on sale on the day.
The group are based in Westmeath, a county which always had an appetite for record fairs and indeed for vinyl, and Record Fairs Ireland are hoping for a big turnout in Mullingar on Saturday. They are also ‘open to offers’ from the public, should anyone wish to part with any records.
Record Fairs Ireland have recently established a Facebook page - http://www.facebook.com/recordfairs - so if you want to keep up to date with locations of forthcoming fairs, or have any special requests for a particular record or artist ahead of the Mullingar fair, then check it out.
