“I would suggest the wounds have healed and a suspended sentence might serve into the future,” offered solicitor Mr John Quinn representing two of three men involved in an incident which saw €500 damage to windows of a house owned by Mrs Margaret Nevin.
Judge Eamon O’Brien agreed and imposed a two month sentence on Edward Myers of 48 Grange Crescent, John Myers of 1 Grange Crescent, and John Joyce of 28 Grange Crescent. All pleaded guilty to threatening behaviour at the house,which is also in Grange Crescent, earlier this year but whose case had been adjourned for sentencing.
Mr Quinn said peace reigned between the parties and solicitor Mr Groarke said Mrs Nevin wished to give evidence.
She said she had been compensated for the damage and had no difficulty with the men, one of whom is unwell, having undergone brain surgery.
“I would prefer if he didn’t go to prison,” she said of Mr Joyce who was charged with the criminal damage. “He’s not a well man himself and one of his brothers is very sick.”
Mr Groarke said his 42- year-old client had a cyst removed from his brain several years ago and the father of five still required follow up care.
The men were each given a two month sentence which was suspended for two years.
