Youths Awards

Buccaneers Youths Awards took place at the club with the boys and girls ‘Players of the Year’ being honoured, while presentations made to the most improved player on each team. Tag Rugby Summer League

Buccaneers Laya Tag Rugby Summer League commenced last Thursday and continues well into July. Tag rugby is a fun and fast-moving non-contact variation of the game, suitable for all ability and experience levels. It is an ideal sport to keep fit in a social way. Entry fee is only €480 per team and, as squads can be up to 15 players, it makes the cost for individuals very reasonable. Teams are made up of seven players, three of whom must be female on the pitch. To enter please log on to the Connacht Rugby website www.connachtrugby.ie/tag and click on Buccaneers link.

Congratulations

Congrats to Andrew Quinn who has won the Eastern Regional kick-off competition in the USA. Buccs U-20 player Andy now goes forward to the All-American event in July and we wish him continued success there.

Condolences

The death has occurred of Michael Thornton who played for the club in the days of Athlone RFC. Mick was a regular attender of matches particularly when his grandsons Evin, Rian and Donagh were in action for Buccaneers youths teams. A native of Carbury, he was a passionate follower of Kildare GAA affairs. Heartfelt condolences are extended to his wife Therese, daughters Orlagh, Deirdre, Sinead, Fiona and Eilish, and all the wider family.

Deepest sympathy is also extended to Cieran Temple and family on the passing of his brother Denis.
