The Westmeath GAA Dual Award 1 course continued last week with the coaches undertaking a third session, this time on developing Tactical Prowess with tutor Tomas Mount.
Thanks to St Josephs SS Rochfortbridge for hosting and to Tomas for tutoring. The fourth night of the course takes place on Wednesday April 17, with a focus on playing facts and psychological focus.
Meanwhile, the second night of the Introduction to Gaelic Games Course took place in Rosemount. The coaches in this course will complete their third and final night on Monday, April 15. Thanks to Rosemount for hosting this course.
Coaching Officer Seminar
Westmeath Coaching and Games will host a Club Coaching Officer Seminar on Thursday, April 25, in Clonkill. The event will be open to all coaching officers in the county and more details will follow in the coming weeks.
Celtic Challenge
The county’s U16 hurlers were due to start their Celtic Challenge campaign last Saturday away to Mayo but Storm Kathleen put paid to the game. The team are out this weekend, however, hosting Sligo in St. Lomans at 1.30pm. Best wishes to all players and management.
U16 Footballers
Westmeath U16 footballers played Longford in a challenge game on Saturday in Keenagh. The game was played in three sections of twenty minutes with all 30 players getting substantial playing time. This will act as good preparation for the upcoming Ted Webb Cup where the team will play against Galway, Dublin and Cork.
Go Games
Hurling Go Games resumed last Saturday in Westmeath despite the inclement weather conditions. Well done to all players, mentors and referees for braving the elements to play the games.
