The upskilling of Westmeath GAA club coaches continues apace with participants gathering in St. Joseph’s Secondary School in Rochfortbridge to expand their knowledge on the Dual Award 1 course.
The third element of the course, tactical prowess, takes place this week, while an ‘Introduction to Gaelic Games’ foundation course continues in Rosemount with two workshops on April 8 and April 15.
Thanks to all staff and tutors for organising and hosting these evenings and to the venues who have kindly hosted them.
Development Squads
Thanks to Castletown-Geoghegan for hosting the hurling development squads training sessions last weekend. The county’s U15 footballers played Sligo in a challenge game on Sunday prior to heading to Markievicz Park to watch Westmeath senior footballers in action.
With schools off this week, coaches are taking the opportunity to do some training during the day with players. The football squads participated in a pitch session focusing on different elements in Shandonagh with hurling squads having a similar session in Castletown-Geoghegan.
All squad players were in TUS Athlone this week for physiological retesting and a psychology workshop.
