Local artists to showcase talent at rescheduled ‘In the Spotlight’ concert

Organisers hoping community will come out in force to support unique event

A unique concert showcasing and celebrating emerging talent will now take place at the Dean Crowe Theatre on Sunday, February 18, at 8 pm.

Funded by Coimisiún na Meán (Ireland’s media regulator ), the rescheduled ‘In the Spotlight’ concert, a free event to support emerging artists on the local music scene, is the brainchild of Athlone Community Radio and Colin Fahy of local video production company, Depict Media.

‘In the Spotlight’ is a unique collaboration bringing together the creative talents of Depict Media and our dynamic team at Athlone Community Radio (ACR ) for an evening filled with live music and insightful discussions.

“Athlone Community Radio is delighted to join forces with Colin Fahy for an event which will also emphasise the importance of community radio in supporting the vibrant arts scene and ‘In the Spotlight’ will be a fantastic opportunity for musicians and enthusiasts to come together, learn, and be inspired,” Deirdre Hunt from ACR, said.

Deirdre is hoping that local people will turn out in large numbers at the Dean Crowe Theatre for what is a free event for all music lovers.

There is also an added bonus for local artists involved in this project aimed at promoting their talent, and helping them to raise their profile within the industry, in the media and among the general public. All of the artists will undergo training in media skills, social media skills and video & photography to help them boost their profiles.

A passionate advocate for the arts and music, Colin Fahy of Depict Media will bring his extensive video and photography experience to the stage to help provide a platform for emerging artists and bands.

“We believe that In the Spotlight is not just an event but a celebration of our local artists, their talents, and the immense potential of the live music industry. Through this collaboration with Athlone Community Radio, we aim to provide a platform where artists can grow and connect with the industry’s veterans. It’s a testament to our commitment to nurturing the music scene here in Athlone,” Colin Fahy, Director of Depict Media, added.

The event will be hosted live by well-known local radio presenter, Pete Casey, and the artists performing on the night will get an opportunity to perform live in front of a sizeable crowd at the Dean Crowe Theatre.

‘In the Spotlight’ promises to be a night of unforgettable music and insights that will resonate with both emerging artists and established professionals.
