Dún na Sí Heritage Centre to commemorate milestone anniversary of St Brigid

To commemorate the 1,500th year anniversary of St Brigid, Dún na Sí is proud to host ‘In Cloak and Womb, a song cycle tracing the echoes of Brigid’.

This celebration, an evening of stories and song dedicated to the legacy of St Brigid, will be held in the Teach Ceoil on Saturday, February 3, at 6pm.

This celebration will begin with a talk on the life and legacy of St Brigid by local tour guide Helen Lynam followed by the stunning vocal harmonies of Sadhbh O’Sullivan and accompanying artists.

‘In Cloak and Womb’ is a song cycle for three voices composed by Sadhbh O’Sullivan (SIVE ) under the Brigid’s 1500 scheme 2023.

Taking inspiration from the legacy of St Brigid in both her Goddess and Saint forms, the songs explore how her echo might resonate in the world today, particularly in relation to themes of climate change and social justice.

Previous audience praise for ‘In Cloak and Womb’

“What a joy and a feast to the senses! Not only was it a musical performance par excellence but it was also painterly in its imagery and sculptural in its form…a truly remarkable and unique performance, one that I am so glad I witnessed”

This will be a wonderful event held in the beautiful Teach Ceol with teas and coffee served on the evening.
