An Bord Pleanála approval for a €100 million expansion at Center Parcs Longford Forest has been welcomed by the popular holiday resort.
The planned extension will realise the construction of an additional 198 guest lodges on the 160 hectare holiday village, a new lakeside restaurant, coffee shop and extensions to existing restaurants and staff facilities.
Extensions to the subtropical swimming paradise and Aqua Sana spa are also included in the new development plans which when completed will increase the capacity of the holiday resort to 3,500 when full and create further employment for 280 persons.
Speaking to the Athlone Advertiser this week, a spokesperson for the company stated that Center Parcs were delighted to receive the news that An Bord Pleanála had granted planning consent for the further development of Center Parcs Longford Forest, supporting the original decision made by Longford County Council.
“Since opening in 2019, Longford Forest has become a favourite destination for Irish families and this decision is great news for the the wider Midlands region and for domestic tourism.
“In due course we will progress work on the development in accordance with the conditions laid out by the planning authorities. We would like to thank the local authority for their ongoing support in this matter,” the spokesperson stated.
