Caulry Advance to Senior Semi-Final
Meanwhile, the positive atmosphere surrounding Caulry GAA at present continued in TEG Cusack Park Mullingar on Saturday evening when the club’s senior team advanced to the semi-final of this year’s football championship with a two point victory over Athlone, the first such achievement for the club since 1946.
Despite trailing as the shrill of the whistle sounded for half time, Caulry started the second moiety in a more determined manner and a return of nine points (1-6 ) in the third quarter set the tone for eventual victory.
With the Baker brothers, Senan and Tadhg, in fine playing form, the win was duly secured, Shane Curran’s charges advancing to a semi-final meeting with Coralstown-Kinnegad, a fixture to be played on the weekend of September 16/17.
