Local Fianna Fáil Deputy Robert Troy has called for further funding for Housing Adaptation Grants in Westmeath.
While funding of almost €1.6 million for the Westmeath Housing Adaptation Grant was announced by the Government earlier this year, the allocation is almost expended with many families awaiting funding to progress their projects.
“I would call on the Minister for Housing Daragh O’Brien to make further funding available for these worthwhile schemes,” Deputy Troy said. “The grants are hugely beneficial to the families who receive them.
“Upgrading and adapting homes for elderly people ensures a better quality of life for them. It allows some people to live on their own for longer, while it allows others to return home from care homes,” Deputy Troy stated.
