U13 Championship Div 2

Southern Gaels 3-11 Raharney 0-2

Southern Gaels faced Raharney in a top of the table clash in Páirc Chiaráin last Friday with a home semi-final at stake. The Gaels played into a very strong wind in the first half but dominated the half due largely to their high intensity work rate and willingness to fight for every ball. The home team ended the half 1-5 to 0-2 ahead with a well taken goal by Fearghal Kelly and points by Adam O’Brien, Sam Meegan and Senan Kelly.

Playing with the breeze in the second half the Gaels got goals by James Cahill and Sam Meegan plus several points by Sam, Adam and Aodhán. Raharney went close to goals on multiple occasions but excellent saves by Fearghal Kelly and heroic defending by Cian Mannion assisted by every other Gaels player ensured the Gaels net remained intact. This was an excellent team performance by all 17 players.

Next up for this promising squad of players is an away fixture against Delvin on August 25.
