Fitzpatrick & Heavey Homes, a prominent Irish property developer, has announced the commencement of construction on its highly anticipated new housing development, Gort an Locha estate, in Moate.

The ground-breaking event was marked by the presence of noteworthy dignitaries including the Minister for Housing, Darragh O’Brien, esteemed representatives from Westmeath County Council, notably Cathaoirleach, Cllr Liam McDaniel, Pat Gallagher, Chief Executive and Mark Keaveney, Director of Services for Housing.

“We are thrilled to be unveiling our latest development in Moate. Our focus has been on delivering very high-quality, affordable homes, in locations that will offer buyers an excellent quality of life. This site in Moate ticks all the boxes.

“We plan to complete these 35 homes within 12 months and expand our activities further into County Westmeath,” speaking about the new development, Fitzpatrick & Heavey Homes CEO, Ciaran Fitzpatrick, said.

Speaking at the event, Housing Minister Darragh O’Brien stated that the development aligned directly with the Government’s ‘Housing for All’ policy, which is about delivering affordable homes for people to purchase or rent at an affordable price.

“So the benefit for the community is firstly, for those who want to buy homes within their own community, who heretofore have not been able to,” Minister O’Brien added.

Estate agent for the site, Denis Begley of DNG Begley spoke of the tremendous interest already being generated.

“The response to date has been phenomenal. Moate has always been a really popular location for homeowners and investors alike. All the services are here. You have the schools, the walkway behind us and you are only a stone’s throw away from Athlone,” Mr Begley remarked.

Mark Keaveney of Westmeath County Council spoke of the benefits the new development would bring to the people of Moate and Westmeath.

“It means that we are addressing a lot of the needs in the town, for the people of the town, and from the hinterland of the town to make sure that they can stay in the local community,” Mr Keaveney continued.

The development in Moate marks an important milestone in the growth of Fitzpatrick & Heavey Homes, who are known for their unwavering commitment to quality, innovation, and high standards. The company is known for its work transforming emerging areas within Ireland into thriving neighbourhoods, and this project continues that proud tradition.

The new Gort an Locha estate promises to provide significant benefits to the local community, bringing both economic and social value. This project also solidifies the reputation of Fitzpatrick & Heavey Homes for delivering top-quality, affordable housing, tailored to meet the needs of local communities.
